Using Natures Resources
Enville Estate is nearing completion of an environmentally friendly development of the Grade II listed barns at Mere Hall, Mere Lane, close to the Enville Golf Club.
The two detached barns and one T shaped barn are being converted into five houses to let; one has two bedrooms and the rest have three. Believed to be the first in the area they have been designed to reduce the cost and consumption of energy in this climate change era.
Space and water heating is provided by heat pumps which use heat from the ground via four 100metre deep bore holes. This will reduce the cost of heating by a massive 75%. The barns are super insulated and have underfloor heating on the ground floor and log burning stoves.
In addition rain water is collected from the buildings and fed into large tanks and is then used to flush the lavatories and other uses except of course drinking and cooking.
Environmentally friendly materials have been used in the construction where possible to make these homes truly fit for the 21st Century.
They will be available to let in August this year.
